1957 - The beginning - The Raw Shoe Company Ltd can trace its roots back to 1957, when the first shoe shop was opened, trading under the Marlone Shoes brand, selling family footwear.
1993 - Raw brand first
trades - By the early 1990's, faced with new sources of competition in
its traditional marketplace, the owners decided to transform the business,
focusing on high quality branded footwear and targeting 17-30 age groups. The
results of this strategic change appeared in 1993 when the first shop to use the
Raw brand was opened in Cambridge.
1993 - Awards - In 1993 at the Clothes Show Live event, Raw was
voted the most innovative and exciting retailer.
In 1996 Raw was voted Multiple Retailer of the Year.
2000 - Restructuring - In 2000, the companies that made up the Raw Group were consolidated, and the diverse ownership simplified. £500,000 of capital was also injected into the company to support planned future growth.

The Raw Shoe Company Ltd is a privately owned company, with just two shareholders. Its capital consists entirely of family-held equity and long-term loans. No funding is provided by banks or other external providers. Its shareholders also make up the board of directors making the link between ownership and control strong. This also means that we can react quickly to market trends or buying opportunities in our ceaseless effort to bring you the most dynamic and current offers. Our 35 years of experience also mean that we are second to none in knowing what customers want and tailoring our service accordingly.
